Emitter spacing isn't a "nice-to-have". It's make-or-break. Too far apart = dry plants. Too close = wasted water.

If your garden isn't flat (and most Aussie blocks aren't), skip the cheap emitters. They'll flood the top of the slope and leave the bottom dry. Pressure-compensating (PC) emitters are mandatory.
