Hardware: What You Actually Need (No Tech Bro Stuff)

Forget $500 routers. You need cheap, rugged, and Australian-friendly gear. The only two options that work:

Tip 1: Solar is non-negotiable – The GL-MT300N needs solar. Use a 10W panel + 12V battery. If it dies, the whole mesh dies. No exceptions.

Tip 2: Don't hide nodes – Put them on the roof, not in the shed. Rain and dust kill electronics. A $20 plastic box (Bunnings) with vents is enough.

Tip 3: Test at night – Australian bush is quiet at night. If it drops at 10pm, it'll drop at 3am when the kids are awake. Test before you commit.
